So when I first started working with Content Management Systems (CMS) I started with Umbraco. Why? Well, the company was already running a Windows Server with lots of custom ASP. Yes, I know I can run PHP on a Windows Server but where is the fun in that. So now I have two CMS at my control that I can implement and use as portfolio pieces. Check out their website at eccseattle.org. It happens to be a church website and the design actually isn’t mine. One of the members of their congregation decided on that look. The backend of the website allows church administrators to login and make all their changes to the content without fussing up the design or get their hands dirty with code.

I will say this about Umbraco, I really do like the abstraction of code from content. I personally think it is done in a much more elegant way than Wordpress and PHP does it. However, there are so many nice tools already available for Wordpress and this is where Umbraco falls short. Of course you can wrap ASP.NET controls using macros, but wouldn’t it be nice if it was a one-click install like Wordpress?

But never fear google is here. A quick lookup through a few posts reveals that this is caused by adding whitespaces, specifically the line breaks, into places inside of a php file where they should be. This is because the line breaks in files are actual code that php gets stupid all over. The two main culprits are at the beginning or the end of a file.

This function will need to be included in any file that uses the file_get_contents() call. If your trying to fix a wordpress theme this will probably go into your functions.php. Now You will need replace all of your file_get_contents() with the new call:

The 2nd variable in the call is your referer and the 3rd variable is the timeout. I suppose you could modify this so that the referer and timeout was hardcoded too. Let me know how it works!
